Lucky for us, Thai food is the staple cuisine when it comes to eating out in Thailand. No matter where you are, you’ll be sure to find Thai food wherever you go. However coming from a western country, the Thai food here may be different to what you experience back home. Authentic Thai food is spicier to what you may be used to, so we’re taking you through some of our favourite Thai dishes, so you can read the menu without fuss or trouble.

One of of the best things to eat in Thailand is a Pad Thai! This is probably the most famous Thai dish too. Made with thin rice noodles, egg, beansprouts, fish sauce, fresh chilli, lime, garlic, palm sugar and crushed roasted peanuts. Add your protein of choice, from chicken, to shrimp or tofu and soak up all the flavours of Thailand.

If you love a Pad Thai, you’re going to love a Pad See Ew. Translated as ‘Stir Fried Soy Sauce Noodles’, a Pad See Ew is made with wide rice noodles, soy sauce, oyster sauce, chinese broccoli and goes perfectly with chicken too!

If noodles aren’t your thing, give their curries a try. From green, to yellow, red and massaman, you’ll be spoilt for choice. Green curries are packed with fresh Thai herbs, red curries are typically more spicier and pack more heat in, where as massaman curries have a rich peanutty flavour. Whichever one you go for, always get a side of steamed jasmine rice to soak up all the infused fresh flavours.

To finish it all off, indulge in some authentic Thai sweetness. The typical Thai dessert here in Phuket is mango sticky rice. To many, this may seem like a random combination of ingredients, but it’s a surprisingly delicious dessert that you’ll soon learn to love. With simply just some white sticky rice, freshly sliced mango, coconut milk and sesame seeds, it’s a sweet creamy dish bursting with flavour!
