Our favourite time of the year has arrived and we couldn’t be more excited – it’s surf season! Surf season in phuket happens during the whole of low season, generally around the months of May-October. This is when the winds are high, the rains are strong, the waves are crashing and the surf is up. We’ve put together a list of our top four favourite beaches to catch those waves this low season.
Quite possibly everyone’s favourite beach to catch the waves. The beach is vast and wide. You’ve got tropical views and palm trees on one side, and a rockery on the other. The waves here are considered to be medium strength for experienced surfers. They can also reach up to 3 meters high!
Kata beach is the perfect beach for beginner or advanced surfers. Although be aware, this beach is a hotspot for the tourists so look out for the crowds. There are surf shops nearby so if you don’t have your surfboard with you, just pop into any of the shops for a rental.
This beach is located on the north of the island, near Surin and Kamala. Kalim beach is the perfect place for a big swell. This beach even hosts Quicksilver surfing competitions every year. You’ll be sure to catch some memorable waves and be taken on a ride worth remembering!
Similar to Kalim beach, Kamala beach offers some of the best waves in Phuket. Not to mention, it’s got white soft sand and aqua blue crystal clear waters. It’s the perfect place for a surf, a swim, a sunbathe and a delicious lunch on the beach too!
