For anyone who has ever been on a road trip will know, road trips are an incredible experience. You get to see things you wouldn’t have necessarily seen by flying, explore areas you didn’t even know existed, and learn to live life simply. However there are some things every traveller wishes they knew before they embarked on their road trip, and we’re here to spill the beans.
- Bring Snacks
Forget the safety first, we’re all about the snacks first! Staying snack savvy will help curb those hunger strikes, which will end up being a life savour when the next restaurant isn’t for another 50km! Just remember to keep anything perishable away. We go for dry goods that don’t need refrigeration, especially if you’re road tripping in the Thailand heat.
- Layer Up
Although it may be hot in the daytime, the temperature can seriously drop at night depending on where you are. So make sure you come prepared with lots of layers so you’re not caught in the cold all night long.
- Plan Ahead
There’s nothing worse than going on a road trip, not knowing where you’re going and running out of phone signal. So we always suggest planning ahead, knowing your exact route, bringing back up chargers and spare tyres, so if you’re caught in trouble, you’ll be fully equipped to handle anything thrown at you and seek help.
- Stop as Much as Possible
Driving for hours on end can feel laborious and suffocating at times. Make sure you stop as often as possible, not only to see the beauty new scenery but also to stretch your legs and get some fresh air too.
- Be Adventurous
The whole point of a road trip is to go off the beaten track, discover new places and find hidden gems. Be daring, be risk taking, be spontaneous, but also always be safe!
